"One day we were enjoying being top of the league and in the Champions League semi-finals. The next day we're fighting relegation," he said.
"All the big clubs in Europe were coming here and we got used to it. That has all gone now and it's very hard to deal with."
Radebe, who will mark his 10 year anniversary at Elland Road in September, has just signed a new 12-month deal but is disappointed to think that he could end his Leeds days playing outside of the Premier League.
"It will be very sad if I end my career in Division One," he added. "I've always aimed since I came to the club to play in the Champions League and to compete in the Premiership. This is the lowest time I have known since I've been here and it's very painful.
"I wanted to finish my career by leaving the club in a strong position in the Premier League, but now it looks like that won't happen. It's hard to describe the pain and it will be like a bereavement for the players and the fans to see this club go down.
"You look around and you think what will be here next season. It seems some players will be leaving and you look around the training ground and wonder will it all still be here. It's just so sad because this is a great club and it doesn't deserve this."
