Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Reid said: "Obviously I'm very disappointed that things didn't work out differently.
"Despite what people may think, I did enjoy my time at Leeds. I've always thought it was a great football club and I still believe that.
"It's a pity I didn't have longer and it's a shame that the circumstances weren't different, but it's been an honour and a privilege to manage Leeds United.
"Words fail me when I talk about the fans. What can you say about them? They've been fantastic with me and they've been right behind the team.
"The supporters have been brilliant all along. In 30 years I've never seen support like I did at the Arsenal game a couple of weeks ago. The fans at Leeds are fantastic.
Reid is expected to receive an £850k pay off from Leeds. This on top of his reputed £500k bonus for keeping the club in the Premiership last season.
Not too bad for nearly 8 months work.
