His agent says he wants to leave Leeds and French side Lyon are the latest club to be linked with last season's top scorer.
But Reid, who admitted to having a training-ground fall-out with the big striker, insists the injury is legitimate and that he is stil part of his plans for the Premiership kick-off against Newcastle on August 17, live on Premiership Plus.
"Hopefully Mark will be fit for the Newcastle United game," he told Sky Sports News: "He's turned his ankle and we had a chat with the medical people and decided the best way to go.
"It's been highlighted that we had a bit of a discussion on the training ground and the gentlemen of the press have have made a lot of it, but these things happen.
"I think if you look at anyone's career they have arguments with players - it's part and parcel of the game - but you just get on with it. It's the same with big Marko - we've forgotten about it."
