Reid was sacked after the 6-1 thrashing by Portsmouth and he claims the players should accept some responsibility for the club’s position.
“I turned to Kevin Blackwell after the fourth goal went in and said ‘that’s me gone’,” he said in The Mirror.
“I was in charge and it was my job to prepare the team. Having said that, I do feel the players have to take more responsibility than maybe they have been doing.
"What they’ve got to do is show more pride in the shirt and in the football club.
“When things go wrong, the buck has to stop with the manager, but the players have to take some of the blame.”
