The point gained from the draw with Plymouth on Saturday proved enough to guarantee the Whites a top-six finish in the Coca-Cola Championship as they enter the play-offs for the first time since 1987.
"We've done what we set out to do," said Blackwell in the Yorkshire Evening Post.
"When we started the season we set our goals and we've achieved the minimum. It's a remarkable achievement when you consider that 15 months ago this club was on its knees.
"We've come back from the brink and we've given ourselves a chance of getting back into the Premier League. I'd like to congratulate the players on coming through a hard season and achieving one of the targets we set them."
