But the former Everton and Manchester City boss admitted he was surprised to have been connected with the vacant hot seat.
"It's all news to me," Royle told Ipswich's official website. "I don't know where these stories have come from."
Ipswich were beaten in the Division One play-offs by West Ham United, 1-2 on aggregate, missing out on the final against Crystal Palace.
Royle has another year on his Ipswich contract and has said on a number of occasions that it will be his last job in football.
