Dennis Wise demanded Northern Ireland coach Lawrie Sanchez stopped "harping on" about the quality of his star player.
Sanchez, a former team-mate of Wise at Wimbledon during the infamous 'Crazy Gang' years, has publicly declared his surprise that Healy has not been snapped up by a Premiership club.
But he explained that he was not mischief-making.
Sanchez said on Radio 5 Live: "Having read some of the comments I'm supposed to have said I understand where Dennis is coming from.
"He's 'Sir David' over in Northern Ireland and every time I go there I'm asked the question 'can he play in the Premiership?'
"Of course my answer is 'yes', but he's with Leeds and I'm sure he would like to play there with Leeds.
"They have not had best of seasons this year but I'm sure Dennis will sort them out.
"But the journalists cut all the rest off because it's not a story."
