Snodgrass was also rewarded for his impressive run of form this season by being included in the Scotland senior national squad for the first time, 14 months after joining Leeds from Livingston.
The Whites favourite beat off competition from teammate Jermaine Beckford to win the first honour of the season, and Snodgrass has wowed the fans' as well as George Burley with a string of influential performances.
"I'm really pleased," said Snodgrass, who earned two U-21 caps last year.
"You want to play for your country and it would be a great honour and a proud moment for me. I'm grateful that Scotland have been keeping tabs on me, and it's a nice reward to get called up.
"It will be a great experience being around the senior squad, and it's another opportunity for me to learn from some good players."
Snodgrass was signed by previous Leeds boss Gary McAllister in July 2008 for an undisclosed fee and scored 11 goals last season. He has three goals in the current campaign.
