Sunderland Offer Charles Apology

Some visiting supporters yelled obscenities during the tribute to Welsh legend Charles before Saturday’s game at Cardiff.

A Sunderland spokesman said: "The behaviour of a small minority of fans was indefensible. We would like to offer our sincere apologies."

Charles, 72, died on Saturday following heart surgery. His funeral will be held at Leeds Parish Church on March 1 — St David’s Day — and his ashes scattered in Wales.
