Cracow is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. Over the centuries many important artists and architects came to work their and it has been spared major destruction, preserving large assemblage of historic buildings and monuments in Poland.
The more educated of you might have guessed that the Markey family are currently visiting relatives, on Mrs M's side, in Poland and whilst I was in Cracow last Saturday, with my Leeds shirt of course, I was stopped by a voice in the street who took notice straight away of the colours I was wearing.
He introduced himself as Henry and gave me a firm handshake, like a lost friend I had not seen for a long time. Henry is a Londoner by birth, but went to Leeds University in the early 70s studying to be a civil engineer.
Leeds were flying high at the time and he took the club to his heart and has been an avid supporter ever since. He even got his son to be a fan, although he nearly went the other way to support Arsenal. Henry would have none of it and his son is now firmly encamped in the Leeds supporters club.
It just goes to show you that if you've got a Leeds shirt on anywhere in the world, then chances are that someone, somewhere will stop you to have a chat about the Mighty Whites.
Ah well, back to the vodka. All that shopping by Mrs M has made me tired. But meeting Henry today certainly made my day.
Speak to you soon my lovely reader.
