Just when Reid thought things could not get any worse, Leicester ended a run of five straight league defeats today by beating Blackburn 2-0 to send Leeds bottom.
The under-fire boss, who survived the axe last month, was asked if failure to get results against Portsmouth, Bolton and Charlton would seal his fate.
Reid replied: "Yes, that's right." He was not helped by Mark Viduka storming out of Elland Road before the game after discovering he had not even made the bench.
McKenzie, who has taken a back- seat role now that Trevor Birch has taken over as chief executive, said in the Sunday Mirror: "I'd written off the Arsenal game. Peter's future will depend more on how we now perform against the lower-placed clubs in the next few weeks."
Birch's first task may well be to sharpen the executioner's axe, depending on how The Whites get on down the South-Coast.
