Football365 report that the names were discussed at board level at yesterday's meeting and they are Jewell, Crystal Palace manager Iain Dowie and Stoke City's Tony Pulis.
The report suggests that Leeds are not targeting big-names and are instead looking at managers used to dealing with small budgets.
Jewell is the personal choice of Leeds managing director David Richmond as he was at Bradford City during the chairmanship of his father Geoffrey.
He has taken Wigan from Division Two to the brink of the Division One play-offs.
Dowie's name has been mentioned in reports as the former Oldham manager was only given an 18-month contract by the Selhurst Park club and interest from Leeds could well see him given a longer contract.
Pulis is the other name on a list that does not include Gordon Strachan or Micky Adams.
Strachan, they say, is not interested in managing Leeds and a close friend of Adams told Football365: "Listen to me, there's no f***ing chance that Micky Adams would take that f***ing job."
