Antonsson’s club Kalmar confirmed over the weekend that they had agreed a fee with Leeds for the hitman, who is the top scorer in the Swedish league.
Antonsson, 25, who has 10 goals in 12 games this season is due to begin his medical today and Kalmar do not anticipate any late hiccups to prevent the deal going through.
Kalmar president Mattias Roselund said: “We are in agreement with a club. He will undergo a medical on Monday to check that nothing interferes with the process. That is what we are waiting for.
“We are satisfied with the agreement, that much I can say about it. It will be good for all parties. We’ve agreed and Antonsson has agreed with the club. Formally it is not completed yet.”
Antonsson will become Leeds’ first signing of the Garry Monk era and his arrival will boost their goal threat, which was lacking last season.
