Blackwell says Leeds won't be making any move for the former Scotland international.
"Last summer we tried to get David in, but we moved on," said Blackwell.
"There's been no interest in David this summer. It's like anything else, if a player is on the move, the chances are we will be linked with him. Don Hutchison at Coventry this week was a classic example, we were supposed to be interested there. That was rubbish.
"I'm sure 90 per cent of available players at our level will be linked with us whether there is any truth in it or not. As the chairman has always said here, we don't deal in speculation.
"I'm used to being linked with everyone now so it's stopped bothering me. I don't take a lot of notice. We will try and do our business quietly and I think we've done okay on that front recently. When there's something to say, we'll say it."
