One of the most popular reasons suggested for the removal is that the club are preparing to announce a radical redesign of their badge.
Today, though, a club spokesman said the display's absence from the stand would only be temporary.
He said in the Yorkshire Evening Post: "It's been taken down for repair and the lighting will be replaced by more eco-friendly lighting, which is also cheaper to run."
The spokesman was unable to give a date when the display would be re-installed, but stressed that when it was put back in place, it would be in an unchanged form.
