Whites Duo Back Appeal

Both players want to help raise awareness of the benefits of giving blood and the African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust are using the second anniversary of Daniel's death by hosting 10 official blood donation sessions throughout the country.

Sam said: "I've got a good friend who works at the charity who asked me to get involved. There is a week of drives and I said I was more than happy to help with the Leeds drive.

"It's a matter of encouraging people. I don't think people realise they can save lives so easy and the amount of people of Afro-Caribbean heritage who are needed right now to save lives...the odds are terrible so we're just trying to raise awareness.

"I didn't know much about it because the awareness isn't there, but it's about education. If people knew they could be a life-saver they would do it."

Daniel, who died two years ago, became one of the first black people in the UK to receive a life-saving bone marrow transplant from an unrelated donor in 1999.
