He has six weeks to earn himself a new contract with Leeds after missing much of the season with a knee injury.
Wilcox is out of contract at the end of the season and he said in the YEP: "The club is the most important thing. Leeds United staying in the Premiership is the most important thing of all.
"Whatever happens to the players is of no consequence. Individually you do have to plan for the future, but as a group we have to stick together for the next month and make sure we stay up. When that's done, then the club will make decisions on what they want to do.
"It's been a tough season and I just want to play as many as I can now whether it's reserves or wherever. I'll take it as it comes.
"All I can do is get fit and put myself in a situation where I'm available and it's Eddie's call then," added Wilcox. "I respect that. There are a lot of good players in the squad. I'm just focused on getting myself in shape."
