Marco Silvestri: Pulled off the saves which Steve Evans would have expected him to make and for all the action around his box, he wasn’t too busy. 7/10
Scott Wootton: The cross for Hull’s goal came from the left and that was where City had most of their joy, limited though it was. 6/10
Giuseppe Bellusci: He and Cooper managed to mark Aluko out of the game and Hull were left with nothing up front for a lot of the contest. 7/10
Liam Cooper: Stood up and made sure he was counted against his old club. Made no major errors, did nothing stupid and saw the win out. 7/10
Charlie Taylor: Safe as houses on the left-hand side and did not let Hull make proper inroads down his flank. 7/10
Liam Bridcutt: In the first half especially, his presence behind Adeyemi and Cook tied City in knots. Tired late on but still impressive. 8/10
Stuart Dallas: Dallas’ play leading up to the first goal was basically his season in microcosm. Pounced on an opening and gave Wood his chance. 7/10
Tom Adeyemi: Justified his recall and not only with his finish. Brought energy to the team and his strong running was a problem for City. 7/10
Lewis Cook: Much more like it from Cook. Snappy in the tackle, tried to play forward and looked so much happier than he had at QPR. 7/10
Alex Mowatt: Similar to Cook. Got into the game, made intelligent runs and was very unlucky to see his shot in the first half smash off the crossbar. 7/10
Chris Wood: Has taken a bit of criticism recently but he took his goal as a striker should and his hold-up play was far more effective. 8/10
Substitutes:
Sam Byram (for Mowatt, 74) - Byram’s appearance at least proved that he hasn’t been blackballed after turning down a new contract. 5/10
Luke Murphy (for Dallas, 80) - Did what was asked of him, which was to keep the closing stages as tight as possible. 6/10
Souleymane Doukara (for Wood, 90) - The throw-in he won deep in Hull’s half at a crucial stage of injury-time killed the match. 5/10
Subs (not used): Bailey Peacock-Farrell, Jordan Botaka, Lee Erwin, Mirco Antenucci.
Referee: Chris Kavanagh (Lancashire) - Let the football flow as best he could but should have awarded Cook a penalty. 6/10
