YEP Player Ratings

Rob Green Didn’t deal with the first goal at all and his distribution wasn’t good. That said, United’s defence did nothing to help. 5/10

Gaetano Berardi Hadn’t played in any of Leeds’ pre-season friendlies and a lack of sharpness was very apparent for the short time he was on the pitch. 2/10

Kyle Bartley Polter fought him every inch of the way and gave United’s backline no respite. A lack of possession put Bartley and co under severe pressure. 5/10

Sol Bamba Might end up taking an own goal for the opener at Loftus Road and looked as shaky as he did in spells last season. This area of the team needs work. 4/10

Charlie Taylor At least managed to pose some threat on the left but was caught out of position when Cousins drew Vieira into conceding a penalty. 5/10

Toumani Diagouraga Largely anonymous before the interval, which didn’t help Vieira, and took until the start of the second to begin dictating play. 4/10

Ronaldo Vieira A tough, tough debut which he’d be best off forgetting about. His class on the ball is there to be seen but the set-up yesterday didn’t work. 5/10

Stuart Dallas Extremely quiet by his highest standards and didn’t offer much of an outlet on the flank. Will get better and fitter. 4/10

Matt Grimes A surprising choice for number 10, ahead of Alex Mowatt. He was isolated in the main but came close to scoring with a free-kick. 4/10

Kemar Roofe Tried hard to break QPR down but was often found ploughing a lone furrow. Had very little to attack. 5/10

Chris Wood Wasn’t able to bully QPR in the same way that Polter bullied Leeds. Didn’t see a single chance of note. 4/10

Substitutes:

Lewie Coyle (for Berardi, 21) A steady shift from a youngster who came on at a crucial point and tried to take the game to QPR. 6/10

Marcus Antonsson (for Grimes, 61) Should have scored late on but to be fair, he got himself in good positions and actually looked like finding the net. 5/10

Hadi Sacko (for Roofe, 75) Showed a couple of neat turns and caused a bit of trouble with his pace but with QPR under no pressure, they didn’t panic. 5/10

Subs (not used): Ross Turnbull, Liam Cooper, Kalvin Phillips, Alex Mowatt.

Referee: Oliver Langford (West Midlands) - A few 50-50s went against Leeds but he was in no way a factor in the final result. 7/10

Attendance: 16,764

Queens Park Rangers:Alex Smithies – 6 Grant Hall – 7 Nedum Onuoha – 8 Steven Caulker – 8 Jake Bidwell – 6 Karl Henry – 7 Tjaronn Chery – 8 Ben Gladwin – 6 Massimo Luongo – 7 Olamide Shodipo 6 Sebastian Polter – 8

Substitutes: Jordan Cousins (for Gladwin, 56) - 7 Abdenasser El Khayati (for Shodipo, 68) - 7 James Perch (for Chery, 88) - 5
