Just what is going on at Leeds United?
Not for the first time in recent years is that question being asked. Fans are used to confusion reigning in the boardroom coupled with abject failure on the field.
We all witnessed the effects as the 'dream' became a 'nightmare'. What most of us expected was that the confusion would be ended and a sensible and solid battle plan laid out for next season when a promotion challenge is at least hoped for.
It must be said that the consortium led by Gerald Krasner has done a fine job in stabilising the club's disastrous financial situation and staving off the immediate threat of administration.
No-one should think we are out of the woods, but we have a fighting chance of keeping the club afloat. However, we will only move forward if those at the top literally do 'march on together'.
Rumours of in-fighting and split-camps send shudders through those who thought things could not get any worse. They need to stop and the club needs to start preparing for life in the Coca-Cola League NOW.
If the Krasner consortium is staying...fine. If the Parkin group is taking over...fine. But minds need to be made up NOW.
If Blackwell is the new manager make the appointment. If he isn't, let him know and sign another boss quickly so he can set about building a new team for next year.
There are some good 'old heads' on the market at the moment who would blend well with our youngsters next season. They won't be available for long and a managerless club will not be attractive or properly prepared.
The new season starts on August 7. If we are ready then a performance similar to those of Sunderland and West Ham could be on the cards.
If we are not ready then a season from hell akin to Sheffield Wednesday or Bradford City is on the horizon. The clock is ticking.....
