The Leedsunited.com website reports that in the opening game the Chapeltown based striker, who joined the Academy as a full time trainee this summer, scored after 13 minutes at the Dungannon Swifts football ground.

Today though he was inspirational, as he hit a hat-trick in a devastating ten-minute spell, as United won 5-0 against French side Toulouse. The other goals in the win came from Kevin Smith and Jake Wright.

Academy director Andy Ritchie was delighted by the performances. He told the club website:

"It was an extremely good performance against Toulouse, we had expected a harder test from them, but we play River Plate on Wednesday and that will be a hard game.

"We now need just a draw to be assured of reaching the quarter-finals, but I would just hope we continue to play as well as we have done so far."

The Leeds Academy team would be the first side to defend the title should they succeed this time. They beat Panathinaikos to win the tournament last year.
