Champions League hopefuls Leeds were simply blown away by the Gunners' pace and skill on an afternoon when Arsene Wenger's men wrote themselves into the record books.

Kanu's ninth minute goal extended their run of games in which they have scored to 47 to beat Chesterfield's record that was set back in 1930.

Arsenal also equalled the existing record of 28 games unbeaten set by Manchester United in 1999 and few would bet on them failing to beat that next week against Sunderland.

Leeds were second best all afternoon as they made far too many blunders. The first of these came in the ninth minute when Gary Kelly was caught in possession by Ashley Cole and the left back found Kolo Toure.

He, in turn, rolled the ball across goal for Kanu to knock it into an empty net.

Arsenal doubled that advantage on 20 minutes when Slyvain Wiltord beat Danny Mills on the Leeds left before chipping a centre for Toure to nod past a stranded Paul Robinson.

The Gunners dominated the first half and could easily have extended their advantage, Robinson denying Thierry Henry and Gary Kelly nodding Gilberto's header off the line.

Henry continued the rout two minutes after the break with a sublime finish under the advancing Robinson as the Frenchman latched on to Kanu's clever pass.

Leeds, in contrast, were sluggish and got exactly what they deserved nothing.

They did, however, pull a goal back on 85 minutes when Bowyer had two shots blocked and Kewell thundered the rebound into the net. Arsenal still weren't finished though and Kanu rounded off another flowing move just two minutes later.

One Arsenal player who could face action after the game is defender Pascal Cygan, after his second-half stamp on Lee Bowyer was missed by referee Alan Wiley.
